03 Final Exhibition
Main Story
During a mission to track down an Ascendant, Kamui unknowingly runs into Roland on his way to a museum estate and mistakes him for another Construct on a mission. The Gray Ravens, who are also tasked with locating an Ascendant, reach the estate as well.
Curiously, even though Kamui recognizes Lucia, she does not seem to remember who he is. Kamui briefly tells the Gray Ravens about the Ascendants and how they draw their power from a mysterious system called the Ascension Network.
The group fights their way through the estate’s defenses and eventually defeats the corrupted butler robot guarding the place. At that moment, Roland shows up and destroys a part of the building, isolating Kamui from the Gray Ravens. Roland reveals that his true target has been Kamui all along, and he infects him with the Virus.
Meanwhile, Chrome notices Kamui’s rising corruption level over his comms.
Hidden Story
Roland discovers the estate museum by chance when he crashes into it on a train. The estate has not been touched by the Punishing Virus, and it is guarded by robots awakened by the mysterious Sagemachina.
He attempts to disable the estate’s defenses but is greeted by a voice telling him that he is unwelcome. Gabriel, another Ascendant, informs Roland that Luna will be arriving shortly and that there is a Construct squad in the estate who has been tracking the Ascendants. Roland easily defeats the Construct squad and keeps them barely alive to use them as traps: he removes the Constructs’ Inver-Devices and plants bombs in their bodies.
He then finds the robot Butler guarding the estate. The Butler expresses his disgust at the havoc Roland has wreaked on the estate. In an attempt to “save” the Gray Ravens from Roland’s atrocities, the Butler reveals that he has intentionally led them into another room filled with the Corrupted, saying that he would rather see them consumed by the Corrupted than let Roland torture them. The Butler fights Roland to protect the estate and his master’s research, but eventually ends up being infected by the Virus.
