Combat Behavior
Combat against Alpha is generally unchanging.
Throughout any encounter with this enemy, she will frequently use her Dodge skill to break out of stun-lock. In doing so, she will temporarily disappear from the battlefield, re-emerging elsewhere shortly thereafter. When re-emerging, she will often utilize either her Cross Slash attack or an unlisted skill, Rend, which will lock the player in place momentarily before dealing heavy damage. At higher difficulties, she will begin using Wave Blast after re-emerging as well.
When she is successful in using Wave Blast or otherwise is at a comfortable distance from her target, she will often backstep and then instantly launch a single Sword Wave. She will utilize her Zigzag skill to approach her target when she is not using these skills.
As Alpha's HP depletes, when the player character initiates an attack, she will become increasingly more likely to utilize her Block skill. After successfully blocking a few hits, she will often break the animation using either her Cross Slash or Rend attacks.
Trivia
Upon the release of Fallen Star, this enemy lost access to some of her more powerful attacks in an effort to decrease difficulty of her Phantom Pain Cage encounter.
