Team Composition
The way the NieR team is used depends on how much you've invested into each character. Generally, A2 will stay on the field the majority of the time if the team is at low investment, and you'll swap between each character if you've pulled multiple copies of each.
Low Investment
A2 will generally carry the team when the team is at low investment.
Blue

Alternate choice for Starter.
Should generally remain off-field.

Yellow

Leader.
A2 will spend most of her time on-field if she is the only character that has had much investment (ie. SSS-Rank, weapon, etc.)

High Investment
At high investment, each member of the NieR team will play an important role in battle, and you will find yourself constantly swapping between characters.

Swap to A2 the moment the battle begins or soon after using Signature Move and all Orbs.
Swap to A2 the moment the battle begins or soon after using Signature Move and all Orbs.
Red
9S
9S should come out after 2B and A2 so that he can start reducing their switch-in cooldowns.
Yellow

Enter Berserk Mode immediately. Swap out to 9S when all Orbs are spent.
