Each playable character has a default Rank that they will be at when obtained. In addition to this, a character can also increase their Rank with enough Inver-Shards, through a process called Evolution. In addition to raising a character's Rank, Evolution causes a character's stats to rise. With each Rank beyond S-Rank, characters gain access to more Skills. Note: Evolution does NOT change a character's Frame (ie. Liv: Eclipse can never Evolve into Liv: Lux as they are completely separate units).
B-Rank
This Rank is available only to three characters at the beginning of the game. There is no way to guarantee B-Rank characters from R&D banners. It is possible to farm Inver-Shards for these characters in their respective Interlude Challenge Modes.
Any time a duplicate B-Rank character is pulled from R&D banner, they will be converted into 6 Inver-Shards. 30 free Inver-Shards for these characters can be farmed from the Pain Cage shop.
B-Rank Constructs
A-Rank
A-Rank characters are guaranteed every 10 pulls from R&D banners.
It is possible to farm Inver-Shards for these characters in their respective Interlude Challenge Modes. 30 free Inver-Shards for these characters can be farmed from the Pain Cage shop.
Any time a duplicate A-Rank character is pulled from R&D banner, they will be converted into 18 Inver-Shards. To Evolve an A-Rank into an S-Rank, it takes 20 Inver-Shards.
A-Rank Constructs
S-Rank
S-Rank characters are guaranteed every 60 pulls from Event R&D banners OR every 80 ~ 100 pulls from the Fate Limited R&D banner. New S-Rank characters have a 100% rate-up in their respective banners, but all reruns of that character have only a 70% rate-up.
It is NOT possible to farm Inver-Shards for these characters in their respective Interlude Challenge Modes. 30 free Inver-Shards for these characters can be farmed from the Pain Cage shop.
Any time a duplicate S-Rank character is pulled from R&D banner, they will be converted into 30 Inver-Shards.
